A book about southern music and literature,
including interviews with Eudora Welty, Charles
Frazier, Lee Smith, Randall Kenan, and Lewis Nordan
is forthcoming from the University Press of
Mississippi. With a Literature Fellowship from the
North Carolina Arts Council, Susan Ketchin is
researching and interviewing, writing, and recording
music for a book and an accompanying CD that
explores the relationship between southern musical
forms and the South's strong traditions of storytelling and great
literature. Susan has performed and lectured about
the fascinating finds she has made, notably an
extensive series of interviews with the late Eudora Welty, and with Charles Frazier, author of Cold
Mountain, a book which he says was conceived and
written as a tribute to the music of his mountain
homeland. |
